Museum Manager Thomas Lockyear discusses the indomitable spirit of Everglades settlers from indigenous people to modern entrepreneurs in this companion lecture to the American Spirit, American Dream exhibit.

In this companion lecture to the current temporary exhibit at Museum of the Everglades, American Spirit, American Dream, Museum Manager Thomas Lockyear will discuss the indomitable spirit of the individuals who have called the Everglades area their home – from the region’s indigenous people to early pioneer settlers to the modern-day entrepreneurs. Presented in the context of the America 250 celebration, Mr. Lockyear will share stories of the courage, resourcefulness, fortitude, ingenuity and vision of those personalities who have lived and written chapters of this nation’s history in and around the Everglades for two and a half centuries.
